It is a pleasure to introduce myself. I am Courtney, the owner here at 36 Eleven. I am so excited to be part of the community, both the local and the painting community. I am a current resident of Norwalk, Ohio, the same city that my brick and mortar resides. I just recently married the man of my dreams, who has been my biggest supporter. A lifelong resident of our community, he is often seen helping me make deliveries or conducting maintenance around my shop.
In addition to being a newlywed, I am also a proud mother of two amazing children and an absolutely adorable bonus daughter who I love with all my heart. Another one of my kiddos that you may see from time to time up at the shop is our fur baby, Carter, who is our super lovable rescued Pitbull. She is the biggest baby and loves to hang out with mama and our customers any chance she can get.
While I have been refinishing furniture for well over a decade now, it wasn't until 2019 that I decided to step out of my comfort zone of refinishing pieces for my friends and family as a hobby and started working part time at a local shop during my days off at my full time position, which I still currently hold. As I worked with the owner, I became a sponge, learning as much as I possibly could, taking classes, reading books and asking questions, trying to grow as much as possible to be able to put out the best product possible for our customers to enjoy. I enjoyed coming into work presenting new ideas and ways of completing projects and showing our customers how to complete them.
In February my life changed forever as my friend, my mentor and the owner of the business I helped at left this world. In her absence I began running the local business until the family decided to close their doors in late December of '20.
It was in that moment that I knew that there was so much more to this story that was left untold. That the closed doors of the local shop was not the end. I had fallen in love with the connections I had made within the community, the opportunity to share all the knowledge and products I had come to learn and love over the years.
I also knew that I wanted to help make a difference. My business HAD to help others. Supporting local and women owned businesses was extremely important to me. Giving back to the community was also equally as important to me.
I also wanted to create a shop that offered all the tools and knowledge to help those who would like to DIY as well as offering services for those who may not feel comfortable tackling such projects. A place that only carried the best products, experienced staff and also offered classes.
Bringing together the very best DIY products, refinishing services, woodshop, and the small businesses who create the most amazing home decor, bath and body items and yummy treats, I was able to open 36 Eleven in February of '21.
Since opening our doors in February, we have been fortunate enough to donate over $3000 back into our local community and look forward to continuing to grow that number as we continue to grow.
From kitchens to paint, to furniture to bath bombs, I am so excited to share my shop with you.
Thank you all so much for joining me on this wild ride. I look forward to building connections with all of you and helping you transform your space to that of your dreams on a fraction of the cost of remodeling.
Thank you all for your love, support and time.
